Name
ADHD and Eating: Nervous System, Behavior, and Nutrition Interventions
Description
In this session, clinicians will learn how to identify and address the underlying reasons clients with ADHD struggle with eating, including neurobiological differences, interoceptive challenges, time blindness, and restriction–binge cycles that are often overlooked in treatment. Participants will be taught how to implement nervous system, interoceptive, and behavioral strategies to help clients build the capacity to eat more consistently and reduce dysregulated eating patterns. The session will then provide practical, structured nutrition approaches for ADHD based on the most current research, including how to teach an ‘ideal ADHD plate,’ apply levels of eating, and use the 30:30:1–2–3 method. Clinicians will also learn how to think through key nutrient considerations, supplementation, and common misconceptions, allowing them to support clients in a more targeted, evidence-informed way.
