Name
From Avoidance to Action: Acceptance-Based Skills for Adult ADHD
Description
Do you find yourself avoiding overwhelming tasks, only to beat yourself up afterward and then avoid even more? This workshop introduces acceptance-based skills from Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), adapted specifically for how ADHD brains work. Rather than focusing on "trying harder," these approaches help you work with difficult emotions rather than against them and connect everyday actions to what genuinely matters to you. Attendees will gain hands-on practice with four skill areas: ADHD-adapted mindfulness micro-practices, distress tolerance strategies for emotional overwhelm and rejection sensitivity, concrete values clarification exercises, and committed action tools that work with ADHD neurology rather than against it. You'll leave with a practical take-home worksheet you can start using immediately.
