Dr. Benjamin N.R. Cheyette, M.D., Ph.D received his undergraduate degree from Princeton University and his M.D and Ph.D from the UCLA MSTP, before completing a general psychiatry residency at the University of Washington in Seattle. He worked as an academic researcher and clinician at UCSF for 16 years, running an NIH-funded laboratory conducting mouse genetic studies relevant to psychiatric illness, before retiring as a full professor in 2018. Since retiring from academia he has worked in private practice, most recently as the Director of ADHD Programming at Mindful Health Solutions, a large interventional psychiatry practice with ~100 providers in 3 states. There he has implemented a training program to bring new clinicians up to speed on the proper diagnosis and management of adult ADHD, including the appropriate incorporation of diagnostic testing and measurement-based care approaches to symptom management. He writes an ADHD blog (1-2-3-ADHD) with his wife (Sarah Cheyette, MD) as well another about general psychiatry (Healthy Prescriptions) for Psychology Today. He and his wife have also written several books about ADHD, most recently Navigating Life with ADHD, a part of the American Academy of Neurology's Brain & Life Book series, published with Oxford University Press.
