Poster Session | Multi-Sensory Approach Helps Students With ADHD Build Foundational Math Skills
Description
Students with special education needs, including those with ADHD, often struggle with basic math skills. They may have poor number sense, struggle to understand foundational concepts such as addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division, and have difficulty with everyday math skills. In order to function well in life, they must develop these foundational math skills and understand core math concepts. Individuals with ADHD tend to respond well to a multi-sensory approach to teaching. In this study, I used a multi-sensory approach to teach students with ADHD how to build these foundational math skills. The results were remarkable, and their math skills showed improvement, helping them both in school and in life beyond school.
